History
Meriwether Lewis died just outside Hohenwald at the site of Grinder’s Stand. His visit and subsequent death helped put Lewis County on the map. Today, history buffs can walk in the same final steps of the famed explorer on the historical Natchez Trace Parkway, visit his gravesite at the Meriwether Lewis Monument, and learn about many other local historical facts at the Lewis County Library & Archives.
